I absolutely adore this song. There's something about the build up from the verse to the bridge to the kick-ass chorus that excites me every time I hear this song. I can't tell you how excited I was when I got to hear this song for the first time on my CD player. I wanted to crank it to the highest volume. Love love love, I love this song.

Alejandro

I really like this song already. I love how her voice sounds in it, and the violin is gorgeous. I, again, love the build-up to the actual verse. There's this fantastic thing that Lady Gaga does where she works up the beginning, before the verse even starts, so that when it does you're PSYCHED. And she does it beautifully here.

I like this one a lot, not just for the Gaga-esque catchy beat, but for the fucking fantastic lyrics. THIS IS WHY I LOVE HER. And why I will defend her to anyone who has negative things to say. She' brilliant.

Speechless

This is a fucking beautiful song. She wrote it for her dad to convince him to get a life-saving surgery that he didn't want to have. It's important, I think, to know that when you hear it. Absolutely stunning vocals, lyrics, and piano.

Dance in the Dark

This is a great song. I love the themes Gaga introduces here. This starts out as any dance song and then she sings words like this:

Baby loves to dance in the dark,
'Cuz when he's lookin' she falls apart.
Baby loves to dance, loves to dance in the dark.

Run run her kiss is a vampire grin.
The moon lights away while she's howlin' at him.
She looks good but her boyfriend says she's a tramp,

and suddenly you've got a song that's about the words some men use to bring women down, and the subsequent insecurities and shyness about being oneself that emerge as a result, as it is about dancing.

I just. I really love the message in this song, how power-anthem it is, but how easy it would be to miss unless you really listen.

Plus, she asks Marilyn, Judy and Sylvia how they feel about this. Which just slays me.

Also, can I just say that I LOVE the chord progression in this song?

Telephone (feat Beyonce)

This is a fun one about trying to have fun at a club while getting repeated checking-in phone calls all night.

Sorry I cannot hear you I'm kinda busy
Just a second, it's my favorite song they're gonna play
And I cannot text you with a drink in my hand, eh?
You shoulda made plans with me, you knew I was free.

I love what's being said here. This is, I'll admit, probably my least favourite song of the bunch. I like it, but not as much as the others. :)

So Happy I Could Die

I really like the beat of this song, but more than that I love what this song says. I'll let it speak for itself:

YAY for positive portrayals and celebrations of female friendships. I also really like that first stanza, and what she suggests about the line between friendship and beyond that, and that it's alright. I really, really like this song. Gotta give it several more listens!

Teeth

I cannot tell you how much I fucking love this song. It starts out really cool, and then this fucking delicious beat comes in that makes me want to dance. I love the melange here of vocals, beats, and lyrics. Just... Lady Gaga, why ya gotta be so awesome?

Anyway, this is an all around fantastic album. I got the double feature option, so I have her first album as well which is AWESOME. I. I just. I'm so happy Lady Gaga's emerged, and in such a big way. She's so fantastic on so many levels. If you don't love her (read: where've you been this year???), you definitely need to start. She's not just some Top 40 mainstream pop icon. She is that, but she's also a brilliant singer, songwriter, and musician. CHECK HER OUT. Don't deny her any longer. It's for your own good!

Listen to: All of 'em, but you should especially check out Alejandro, Speechless, and Teeth. But above all, Dance in the Dark is a fucking jewel.
