Ho hums, school talent show, and new shoes
Nov. 8th, 2004 10:12 pmToday Nick told Sarah that he really does like me but that he doesn't want a relationship right now. I actually think that's very intelligent and mature of him, and I couldn't agree more. I think we both need to wait, get to know each other better, and have some fun as friends before we try anything new and different. We both have to be happy and comfortable with ourselves before we can be happy and comfortable together. You know? It still happens to be killing me that I can't just rub his back affectionately or squeeze his hand reassuringly. However, I might one day get that chance to do those things and I am more than willing to wait for it.
The talent show is tomorrow night, and NIck and I playing in it together. I got quite a few nice compliments on my singing voice today, and they were very appreciated by myself even if I don't necessarily agree with them. I'm also playing electric guitar for a girl in my school who's singing Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. I love that song, but she's ruining it for me. Her voice isn't bad at all, but she doesn't sing in the right key - making the whole song sound off and horrible. It was tough work not to cringe uncontrollably at her massacre of such a pretty song. I swear I almost died. I should be okay though. As long as I shut my eyes and concentrate on my playing I'll be FINE!
Then I have three days of school this week, which I am SO grateful for.
I got my report card and I received a 76 % overall with marks ranging as thus: Physical Education (GYM) - 62 %, General Science - 75 %, Math - 88 %, Economics - 78 %, English - 80 %, Francais - 62 %, Drama - 85 %. I am thrilled with my grades this term and will be celebrating by applauding myself right now. Yay.
I got NEW SHOES! They're Converse All-Star and they're bright pink with a skull and cross bones on one side of them (they're high tops). I am in LOVE with them. Every time I see them I do a little jig. See - there they are, see - here I am jigging. They're brilliant, and I'm so happy with them. Plus, while we were all in town on Saturday, Sarah and I bought Nick two posters for his belated birthday. They featured the bands the Distillers and the Ramones. He seemed to be pleased with both of them, and at the end of the day, we bought McDonalds. I LOVE MCDONALDS! I had a really good time walking around talking with Sarah, Christine and Nick all day. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend.
Lyrics to Hotel California by the Eagles (my new obsession).
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair.
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air.
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light.
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night.
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell.
And I was thinking to myself this could be
Heaven or this could be hell.
Then she lit up a candle
and she showed me the way.
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say.
Shivers down my spine. That's a beautiful song. The chords set up is beautiful too. Bm, F#7, A, E, G, D, Em, F#7. It sounds amazing when you play it with the right strumming pattern and... oh, it's just gorgeous.
