Oh, Jon...
Mar. 13th, 2009 11:47 pmI say this all the time, but he fuckin' rocks my world. I love it when he calls the pundits and politicians out on their bullshit. Every single time it happens I fall deeper in love with him. Dude. Will it ever stop?
I'll include some of the gems from the interview:
"Let me tell you why I think this thing has caught some attention. It's the gap between what CNBC advertises itself as and what it is, and the help that people need to discern this."
“I understand that you want to make finance entertaining, but it's not a fucking game.”
"Nobody is asking for [CNBC] to be a regulatory agency, but whose side are they on? These guys at these companies were on a Sherman's March through their companies financed by our 401(k)'s and all the incentives of their companies were for short-term profit. They burned the fucking house down with our money and walked away rich as hell. And you guys knew that was going on."
The best part, though, was when Jon rolled a clip of Jim Cramer's appearance on Martha Stewart's tv show earlier that day. Marth Stewart put a mound of dough and a rolling pin down in front of Cramer, and said, "You gotta flatten the dough; pretend it's Jon Stewart." Then Cramer started hitting the dough with the rolling pin, repeatedly. When they came back from the clip, Jon quipped, "Mr. Cramer, don't you destroy enough dough on your own show?"
FUCK YEAH!
Oh man. If you haven't seen the clip yet, check it out on The Daily Show's official website. There are so many other great quotes and moments from the interview and you've just gotta see it. It was quite the smackdown; Jon just shredded any credibility Cramer might've had to pieces. Very satisfying to watch.
