This weekend us members of the Chambly Academy Theater Troupe put on the musical Alas! Alack! Zorro's Back! Friday night's performance was mediocre as we were all slightly nervous and skipped two pages of the script accidentally. We got plenty of laughs though and had a really fun time. But Saturday's performance was impeccable. Our timing was just right, our lines and cues were spot on, EVERYONE was laughing, the improv from all of us was simply fantastic. All in all, the musical was a resounding success and I enjoyed myself more than anyone can know. Everyone who was a part of the production will for ever be etched in my memories. They were all spectacular. They are wonderful people that I'll never forget. Just awesome.
I'm going to Cornerstone!!! This is a festival of awesome music and workshops and other awesome stuff. I am completely excited. Cara! This is going to be such a blast, I'm bringing several cameras, I want to remember everything!
I'm also being consumed with the notion that I am graduating in nineteen school days. I honestly cannot coherently express how excited, nervous, anxious, worried, upset and ecstatic I am about this whole thing. It's just hit me wat exactly has to be done. We voted for the Graddy Awards (Best Dressed, Funniest, Nicest, Best Looking, etc.) on Monday. Here's a list of everything that needs to be done for grad was had to be done for all of it.
- Submit my Grad Message to the yearbook, which means I have to write it first. It must be 200 characters long (letters, spaces and punctuation marks all counted).
- Make sure I reserved a freaking yearbook, pay the amount of money (about 45 $) it will cost to buy one.
- Rent a grad gown and cap - roughly 30-40 $
- Make sure my dress is finished before the grad ceremony (June 2nd) - must talk regularly with the woman who is fitting and sewing it for me.
- Get grad tickets (4 free ones per family), give them out to my parents, my sister and a family friend.
- Grad rehearsal on June 2nd @ 9:30 in the morning to practice the grads' entrance and exit and last minute information about it.
- Graduation ceremony @ my school, 7:30 in the evening. A few hours before that I will change into my dress, have my make-up and hair done, and put on my grad gown and cap.
- Cocktail party afterward, and after THAT the after-grad party @ one of the graduate's houses where ALL grads are welcome.
- Exams begin the following day. Must get through those to actually graduate. Ceremony is official, but exams determine whether you go to CEGEP or repeat the last year (ACK!)
- Exams all he way up until.....
- PROM ON JUNE 23rd @ THE MARRIOT CHATEAU IN DOWNTOWN MONREAL! Which means I need to have dress bought (done!), have my hair and make-up done, and buy shoes and a purse for the occasion. Ticket for prom will cost approximately 120-130 $. Oh and I have to find a date, too. Then it's to the hotel room that my friends and I are going to reserve (nearly 250-200$ between all of us).
- Go to summer school to do my grade eleven math, to get into CEGEP.
And then I'll have graduated. I feel a bit emotional right now. This is extremely exciting. And looking back, I see I'll be spending at least 200 $ on my graduation experience. And then I'm going to Cornerstone, plus Senior camp. AND summer school.
Oh God. I'm going to kill my parents with the cost. Something must be done to lessen the cost. I shall find a way!
Well, that's pretty much my life at the moment. I'm also WAY too lazy to write anything else. But I'll leave you with some lyrics from Perfect by Maren Ord:
Don't close your eyes
They may not open
What if they open
Would you be alive
Everyone falls
But not everyone rises
Why don't you get up
And rise again for me
What if the world were
a little more perfect
Would you stop crying or
would you take the leap
What if the world
were a little more perfect
Would you open your eyes
and blink again for me
What about friendship
What about friends
You said the whole world
was against you
And it all had to end
What about love
What about family
What about all that
you have to live for
It isn't easy here without you
Why did you leave me
What am I supposed to do
without you
