Here is a celebratory post with all sorts of queerhappy stuff!
The Prop 8 Musical:
Every time a gay or lesbian
Finds love at the parade,
There's money to be made!
Each time two grooms say,
"Paint the wedding hall,
And lavender's the shade."
There's money to be made.
Think of all the carriages
And four white horses;
There's millions lost
From all of your disapproving,
Think of all the lawyers for the gay divorces,
Think of the tattoo removing
I can see.
America’s calling me.
Yes, gay marriages will save the economy!
20 classic works of gay literature...
I love Dan Savage. Here he is being BADASS and calmly refuting every point this bigot's trying to make.
And here's a fun picture to round this post off:

I'M WALKING ON SUNSHINE!
WHOA OH!
Anything to add, lovelies? Share your queer media! ♥

jazzonia just linked me to the full text version of today's ruling on Prop 8 -- give it a read!! I'm so happy; I've been looking for this all evening (and getting distracted, I'll admit)!

Date: 2010-08-05 01:06 am (UTC)The full text (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/04/prop-8-ruling-read-the-fu_n_671050.html) of the decision, which is actually really eloquent.
I also love this "Queerbomb," (http://www.angeliska.com/2010/06/queerbomb/) a quasi-historical look at queerness in America.

Date: 2010-08-05 01:55 am (UTC)It's the same damn thing that happens all the time. People with the money and power operate what is basically huge smear campaign in the public eye to obscure the truth. Dan's comparison to the tobacco industry's "studies" was spot on - the same thing happened with ExxonMobil and their "global warming is FAKE!" bullshit.
It makes me so angry I literally like, shake, sometimes. I literally have never, ever heard anything out of anyone's mouth to convince me that they have a valid argument. Just look at the evidence presented by the defendants in the Prop 8 trial - it was shitty. Because they're wrong.
UGH. *deep breath*

Date: 2010-08-05 03:06 am (UTC)That's exactly it! We are talking about LEGAL RIGHTS; the bigot countering Dan Savage is using religious-based arguments to try and make his stupid, ignorant points. And that's why this issue will eventually go to the Supreme Court, where gays and lesbians will be awarded the rights they deserve. The reason I know that will happen? There is no legal argument that can made against gay marriage. NONE.
What really pisses me off about that debate is how that bigoted piece of shit, with all the rhetoric he's touting, just like the rest of the religious right, acts like the gay community is attacking the church. When people say that? It makes me want to break things. Jon Stewart, love of my life, said it so perfectly when he was talking to Mike Huckabee about this. He said, "[I think] it’s a travesty that people have forced someone who is gay to have to make their case that they deserve the same basic rights as someone else. I'll tell you this: Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality. And the protections that we have for religion? We protect religion -- and talk about a lifestyle choice -- that is absolutely a choice. Gay people don't choose to be gay. At what age did you choose not to be gay?" It was such a great interview. It makes me LIVID, the way conservatives equate religious freedom with the human condition of being GLBTQ. Fuck 'em.
But I really like when Dan says, "You strip me of my rights and I interrupt you; who's really suffering here?" Right on! BOOHOO, you're not able to spread your bullshit because Dan beautifully, immediately, and exactly how we should all do it, counters him with rational, sensible arguments.
Honestly, the whole situation just BOGGLES MY FUCKING MIND. I mean, WHAT is the fucking PROBLEM!? Conservative assholes don't want to get gay married? THEN FUCKING DON'T! PERIOD! HOW IS THAT HARD TO GRASP!?
Yup, right on. They're completely fucking wrong, and we - the progressive, accepting, open-minded generation that we are - will ensure that this bullshit stops. There's always a fight, they always lose. The end.
